Carbon SMS Consent & Messaging Terms
Last updated: May 25, 2026
What this is
Carbon is a clinical wellness platform used by licensed practitioners to track their clients' daily wellness signals (sleep, energy, soreness, stress, mood, motivation, nutrition, life satisfaction). With your consent, Carbon sends short SMS messages on your practitioner's behalf so you can complete brief check-ins from your phone instead of opening a web app.
This page describes exactly what you receive, how to opt in, how to opt out, and how to get help. We follow the requirements of the CTIA Messaging Principles and the A2P 10DLC Campaign Registry.
How you opt in
-
During onboarding, your practitioner asks for your verbal consent to receive wellness check-in messages by SMS and enters your phone number into Carbon.
-
Carbon then sends you a single opt-in confirmation message asking you to reply YES to start receiving check-ins. No further messages are sent until you reply YES.
-
Once you reply YES, Carbon may send the message types listed below at the frequency listed below.
Consent is granted only to you, only for your practitioner's account, and is never shared, sold, or transferred to third parties for marketing.
What messages you will receive
-
Daily wellness check-in link. A short message with a one-time link to your check-in form. Example: "Carbon: Good morning Sam. Time for today's 2-minute wellness check-in. Open here: https://carbontc.co/chat/... Reply STOP to opt out."
-
Weekly check-in nudge. A Sunday reminder for a longer check-in.
-
Conversational check-ins. If you reply to a Carbon message, our assistant can walk you through the check-in directly over SMS — one short question at a time — instead of opening the link.
-
Operational replies. Confirmations after you submit a check-in (e.g. composite score), and acknowledgements when your message has been flagged for your practitioner's review.
-
Account messages. Opt-in confirmations, opt-out confirmations, and HELP responses.
We do not send: marketing offers, promotions, sweepstakes, third-party advertising, loan or credit messages, or unsolicited content of any kind.
Frequency
Typically 1 message per day (the daily check-in link) and 1 additional message per week (the Sunday nudge). If you choose to continue a check-in conversationally, you may receive a handful of short back-and-forth messages during that session. Message frequency varies based on your own participation.
How to opt out
Reply STOP to any Carbon message at any time. You will receive a single confirmation that you have been unsubscribed, and no further non-transactional messages will be sent. We also honor STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, and OPTOUT.
To re-subscribe later, reply YES, START, or SUBSCRIBE.
How to get help
Reply HELP or INFO to any Carbon message and we'll send back instructions and contact info. For account-specific questions, contact your practitioner directly. For platform questions, email support@carbontc.co.
Costs
Carbon does not charge a fee for SMS check-ins. Message and data rates may apply from your wireless carrier depending on your plan. Carbon is not responsible for carrier charges.
Privacy & data use
Phone numbers and message content are stored only to deliver the check-in service your practitioner has enabled. Carbon does not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for marketing. SMS opt-in consent and phone numbers are not shared with affiliates or non-affiliated companies under any circumstances.
Message content is part of your clinical record with your practitioner and is treated with the same confidentiality as any other clinical interaction. Carbon retains messages for clinical recordkeeping and audit purposes for as long as your practitioner's account is active.
Supported carriers
Carbon SMS is delivered through Twilio, Inc. and works on all major U.S. wireless carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, U.S. Cellular, and most MVNOs. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
